This really is Spinal Tap - June 2009 Wembley date - 25th Anniversary World tour

Posted: 15 years ago

'Band' Spinal Tap has announced a 'one-night only world tour' date at London's Wembley Arena on June 30th. The show will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the iconic film.

The spoof group's 'career' was launched on the back of the film 'This Is Spinal Tap', which was followed by a soundtrack album. The band have been rumoured to have released many albums, although only two are 'real'!

Spinal Tap will be supported by 1960s threesome The Folksmen, another band who found recent fame after starring in the 2003 documentary 'A Mighty Wind'. Previous tour dates have included the 'Back from the Dead' gigs in North America in 2000, and Live Earth in 2007.

The band is played by Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest and Michael McKean. The actors will be touring the US this summer as themselves for a series of acoustic gigs entitled 'Unwigged and Unplugged'.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday 9th April.
