Veto's debut UK release album 'Crushing Digits' out April 20

Posted: 15 years ago

Ok, so maybe you have never heard of VETO? A Brief explanation would include the facts that Veto are a) a 5 piece band from Arhuis & Copenhagen in Denmark, b) 'Crushing Digits' will be their first ever release on these fair shores c) their music elegantly mixes together progressive rock and modern electronica, soaring melodies, bleeps, clicks and pounding live rhythms and d) they are the biggest thing to come out of Denmark since Hans Christian Andersen.

Now, less fact and more opinion. VETO play a unique brand of propulsive alternative rock, blending edgy guitars, thunderous drums and vast, electronic textures. All of which may just sound like words on a piece of paper but much like fellow countryman Lars Von Trier (director of 'Dancer in the Dark' ft Bjork, and co-creator of Dogme95 style), the band mix together beauty, melancholy, a sharp wit and an understanding of the dark side(s) in life. Think twisted, dark, melodic and rhythmical rock with modern contemporaries including Hot Chip, Klaxons, Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Bjork and Pendulum.

'Crushing Digits' is actually the bands second album, the debut album 'There's A Beat In All Machines' was released independently in Denmark only in 2006 and achieved gold sales status plus wide critical acclaim. Nominations for a record breaking 7 Danish Music "Grammys" followed, winning 2 (Best New Act, Best Video), a prestigious P3 prize (the Danish equivalent of Radio 1), the Best Album & Best New Act at 2007 Zulu Awards, 3 Steppeluv Critics awards for best band, best live & best new act AND they were voted No1 band & No1 album of 2006 by the biggest Danish music mag, GAFFA ( the Scandinavian equivalent of the NME). The band have also topped Danish video charts for 5 consecutive weeks with both the first 2 singles on the album, played over 150 shows nationally & internationally, including key supports with The Killers & Smashing Pumpkins in Copenhagen.

VETO have also played ROSKILDE festival to 20k fans and played to over 150k people over 8 events, headlining stage 2 of the Green Concerts tour 2007. Following all of this, the band were signed by SONYBMG in Denmark for the rest of Scandinavia and GSA. The album will be released in the UK through Reset08, the bands own label, via Essential Distribution. Look out for headline club dates in March 09, which will be followed by massive European shows, support tours and further UK shows and debut support slots.
