Hinterland Festival 2009 - new festival for Glasgow starts in April
Posted: 19th March 2009
Glasgow, host city of many a sonic treasure from The Pastels, The Vaselines and Jesus and Mary Chain, to Franz Ferdinand, Belle and Sebastian, and more recently Glasvegas, will celebrate its appointment as UNESCO City of Music (which it was made last August) in style, by inaugurating a new music festival this spring.
The first Hinterland festival will run from Thursday April 30th to Friday May 1st, and will gather about six dozens of bands, including punk legends The Fall, the brilliantly mental Dead Kids, Metronomy, Micachu this year's Unsigned Act winner Tommy Reilly, and synth trio We Have Band on the Thursday, as well as local quartets Son and Daughters and We Were Promised Jetpacks, Sky Larkin, Good Shoes, new Electro sensation Ou Est Le Swimming Pool?, and Eugene McGuinness on the Friday. This is of course a non-exhaustive list of the great acts lined-up for this inaugural event, so rush for the early bird two-day tickets which are currently available for £35.00 each.
Standard prices for two-day tickets will soon go up to £42.00, and £23.50 for single- day tickets.
