Carlos Acosta to perform at the Lowry for the Manchester International Festival 2009

Acclaimed, multi award-winning Cuban ballet dancer - Carlos Acosta - formerly part of the English National Ballet - will perform three nights at the Lowry - following on from his sold-out performance at the same venue for the 2007 MIF.

In this year's performance, the musical accompaniment will be provided by the BBC Philharmonic, featuring the music of Claude Debussy, Benjamin Britten, JS Bach, Igor Stravinsky, set to the following pieces (choreographers in parentesis): Afternoon of a Faun and A Suite of Dances (both: Jerome Robbins), Young Apollo (Adam Houghland) and Apollo (George Balanchine).

Carlos will be at the Lowry on Thursday 9th, Friday 10th and Sat 11 July.Tickets, costing £12.50 (ltd. concessions), £15.50, £25.50, £33.50, £38.50, £46.50 go on sale today at 3PM.
