Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins still makes wonders 75 years on!

The latest adaptation of the classic children's books series (the first book of which was published in 1934), centred around an enigmatic English nanny (portrayed by Julie Andrews in the eponymous 1964 film adaptation), was written by George Stiles, the Sherman Brothers and Anthony Drewe, and co-directed by Richard Eyre and Matthew Bourne (who also acted as choreographer) and combines elements of both the film and the books.

The musical has enjoyed successful runs in the cities of Plymouth, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester and London (where the musical ran for more than three years before closing in January 2008, and touring the UK), and the last leg of this touring production opened this week (Monday 16th March) at the Cardiff Millennium Centre until April 18th. The actress/dancer Lisa O'Hare (of My Fair Lady fame) will be taking the lead role of Miss Poppins until the run expires.

Tickets cost £40 (+ booking fee).
