Michael Jackson tour - now it's 44 dates - tour extended into 2010
Posted: 12th March 2009
Try as I might to resist the temptation to write about Michael Jackson, I just can't help myself. I mean: 44 dates at the O2... unbelievable!
We're no longer in the "beating Prince's O2 run", the correct adjective here is "annihilation". Presuming they go for a standard configuration at the O2, it should be around 20,000 fans per night for 41 nights, meaning that should all dates be performed, 880000 fans will have seen him, grossing - approximately - a whopping £55000000 - which is the GDP of a small country!
So, as reported yesterday, the 2009 dates finish (currently) on 29th September, by which point MJ would probably have become sick of the country. He is then slated to return on 7th January 2010, with the dates running into February, culminating (currently) on 10th February.
Promoters AEG yesterday apologised for the inevitable problems caused by the tidal wave of people trying to purchase tickets - but, well, more is to come tomorrow, when the tickets are on general sale at 7AM.
Tickets cost between £50 - £75 - which is something you have to give Jacko credit for, as whilst they are not cheap, they are still a lot cheaper than many of the recent comeback gigs. Really, they could have just named their price - as witnessed on ebay yesterday as tickets went on sale for multiple thousands per ticket.
