Jerry Dammers and the 'Spatial AKA Orchestra' at the Barbican 10th March 2009

Encouraged by praise from the likes of Uncut, Straight No Chaser, The Observer, The Evening Standard and Record Collector, songwriter/ keyboardist and founding member of 2 Tone Ska legends The Specials, Jerry Dammers, brings back his 'Cosmic Engineering' to the Barbican for one-night only on March 10th.
This special performance will see Dammers and his 18-piece orchestra pay tribute to a string of late greats, such as jazz whizzes Sun Ra and Alice Coltrane, Exotica pioneer Martin Denny and Ska dinosaur Coxsone Dodd, among others.
Renditions will be delivered by an oh-so-impressive line-up of musicians including Mercury Prize nominees Denys Baptiste (on saxes) and Zoe Rahman (on piano), BBC Jazz award-winning flautist Finn Peters, ex-Galliano percussionist Crispin Robinson, Jazz Warrior trombonist Harry Brown, poet Anthony Joseph and vocalist Francine Luce.
