Based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot, Cats first opened in the West End in 1981, hitting Broadway a year later - with both productions directed by Trevor Nunn.
The most famous number from Cats is Memory, made famous by Elaine Paige who played Grizabella in the original London production.
