We can’t help but bring Kiran Leonard back to Cambridge again and again, and this time it feels like the musical world is starting to catch up with the ingeneous Mancunian who, at 28, we can no longer describe as precocious. Over the past decade he’s exuded an array of sui generis tunes that seem both simultaneously meticulously constructed and intuitively arisen. His is a grandiose vision of how adventurous music that is rooted in DIY rock can be when married with a broad palette of artisic approaches, including graphic scores, aleatory, chamber composition, and an aversion to choruses. His latest album, “Real Home”, is his first for Memorials Of Distinction and another twist in the tale of his musical journey. Whilst unmistakeably a Kiran Leonard record, this new collection is a tighter, more concise effort than his previous epic works; a potent distillation of everything that has come before, and just as essential. Come and see it brought to life with a new band featuring members of caroline, Shovel Dance Collective, and Historically Fucked.
