Gaslight

Thriller written by English play-wright Patrick Hamilton and later adapted for film (starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer). Gaslight was first staged in 1938 and was filmed twice. There was a British version in 1940, directed by Thorold Dickinson, and an MGM version in 1944 directed by George Cukor, which won Ingrid Bergman an Oscar for her performance.

An opera singer is murdered leaving Paula alone in Italy, training to follow in her deceased aunt's footsteps. But there are sinister things afoot after she falls in love with Gregory.

The original play was entitled, 'Angel Street'.
