She - Billy Vincent Album Review
Album Review
If you thought you'd seen all that the rejuvenation of folk music had to offer over the past few years you are much mistaken. Billy Vincent have breathed new life into a very much tired genre of music with their new album 'She'.
A collection of real life tales all experienced by someone in the band, 'She' is a heartfelt album full of every emotion under the spectrum as track ' Dead Man's Shoes' explores with its lyrics of: "She said our loves like a paper cut, she didn't know it was there till it hurt so much". Don't however assume that this an album for the lovesick who have lost out to love all their lives; tracks like 'Pirates' are what brings 'She' alive with a more rough sounding edge that shows Billy Vincent are just as capable of classic rock as they are folk.
Although as good as 'Pirates' is, it also highlights how the album could do with more edgier tracks like it and not rely so heavily upon the soppy love songs. Billy Vincent may not quite be the new Mumford and Sons but their musical and lyrical abilities aren't far behind...
