Live Review

Over the recent years we've seen so many older bands reform, we've probably lost count. PULPp became one of these recently reformed acts back in 2011 when they re-joined to play the likes of Glastonbury and Reading & Leeds festivals. Tonight was their first show of this year and Jarvis Cocker and co. were on brilliant form. It seems surprising that they were concerned that this show wouldn't live up to expectations and called for extra rehearsal time after seeing the legendary Sir Paul McCartney play the same venue two nights previously.

Whether they needed the extra rehearsals will never be known but they certainly can't have hurt. PULP brought the audience (filled with both young and old) alive with their classic hits like 'Sorted Out For E's and Whizz', 'Common People' and 'Do You Remember The First Time' playing them like it was the first time they had aired. The one advantage of seeing a band who haven't played live for a while is that the once played to death live favourites become new and exciting once more for both the fans watching and the band playing. Cocker certainly was alive tonight with his world famous strange dancing and frantic running about.

Special guest appearances came from Richard Hawley on old favourite 'Like A Friend' whilst Cockers sister made her entrance on 'My Lighthouse'. From the moment you could see the florescent backdrop with the letters 'PULP' you knew there was something special waiting. This band may not fit into modern day music but they have shown tonight that they still have a place in it and always will. PULP are one of those beautiful charismatic British bands that should be forwarded onto future generations to appreciate.
