Single Review

The first time I crossed paths with the Glasgow-based rockers Sparrow And The Workshop was when they supported The Pogues on the 2010 Christmas Farewell Tour, I remember thinking then this band should go far with their own brand of bluesy Grunge Rock it makes them captivating as well as a powerhouse live.

'Faded Glory' opens up with a hypnotic, echoing drum beat courtesy of the only native Scotsman Gregor Donaldson, that accompanied with the guitar work of Welshman Nick Packer gives the song an aura that is hauntingly sparse and once the Belfast-born, Chicago-raised Jill O'Sullivan starts to sing the true power of Sparrow And The Workshop draws you in. Jill has a unique vocal, somewhere between Karen O and Charlotte Cooper, that's uplifting while being mystical and is perfect for their style of Rock.

One interesting fact worth noting about Sparrow And The Workshop is the lead press image being used to promote the album and accompanying singles was taken by Ben 'Pip' Seeds and has been short-listed for the AOP (Association of Photographers) Awards, and features the band stood in the middle of a lake. Check it out.
