Solar - Born Blonde Single Review

Single Review

London five piece Born Blonde released their debut single 'Solar' on Monday of this week and it is a really welcome breath of fresh air. Being released through the bands own label Moriarty The Cat it is available on Limited 7'' capped at 300 or as a free download from the bands website.

It is a refreshing bout of spacious psychedelia which starts with an acoustic guitar and leads in a heady swirl of soft keys, mellow drums and spaced out vocals. It's not just the music that's a bit trippy either, the artwork is somewhere between looking into a kaleidoscope or down the tunnel to heaven (or hell if you prefer) and if you stare at it long enough I swear it feels like you are being pulled in.

What Born Blonde have created here is not just music, it a feeling, it's a sense of being lifted from reality; to be totally honest it is other worldly. On the first listen I was not sure about it but after seven or eight it has got me hooked.
