Galang/Little Sister - Dana Jade Single Review
Single Review
Galang/ Little Sister is the debut double A single from Trinidad native Dana Jade. Growing up amongst the soca and reggae of the tropics, Dana spent summers soaking up the sounds of riot grrrl and grunge in New York before relocating to London a few years back.
Described as having "part purr part growl", the raven-haired femme fatale unleashes her swinging sultry vocals that will undoubtedly make waves within the rock scene. While Florence, Ellie, Adele and Duffy pleasantly play in the corner, Dana joins the likes of Ritzy Bryan, PJ Harvey and Courtney Love in busting out big riffs and power chords to entertain the selected special.
With a debut record due later this year, M.I.A. cover Galang is a sweet taste of what's to come. It's bold, brassy and oozes sexiness. Following, Little Sister reminded me of a fusion between Placebo's Every You Every Me and Allergic. Unapologetic for fierceness, Dana is a welcome addition to spice up the scene.
