Jump into the Fog - The Wombats Single Review

The Wombats

Single Review

For a pop band The Wombats sure take their time. The teenage indie pop addict of the class of 2007 has surely, cut off their Reading festival bracelets and left the bright indie pop for the dour National. So is there still an audience out there dying to hear the new nugget from the Scouse Supergrass?

Their second single from the upcoming 'This Modern Glitch' carrying on the synth soaked sound of the previous single 'Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves'), 'Jump into the Fog' struggles to hit the same heights as their past efforts.

Having shaven off the edges, The Wombats seem far less interesting without their spikey guitar sound. It's fine to mature musically, but here we have a band that has left too much behind.

A pleasant trip into a sleazy pop song, not enough dirt under the finger nails and not enough hooks to work on either level though.
