Single Review

On the eve of their supporting role touring the UK with American heavyweights 30 Seconds To Mars, Enter Shikari are set for the release of their first single since 'Thumper' back in February. 'Destabilise' will be released on the bands independant label, Ambush Reality.

For anyone who knows Enter Shikari, this track is pretty much instantly recognisable to 'their' sound; a combination of so many sub-genres. Post-hardcore/Metal/trance/dubstep/electronica..... I could go on. 'Destabilise' doesn't take long to get into its stride, with its over-powering electro backbone, massive snare and bass drum, and shout-loud lyrics from vocalist Roughton Reynolds (Rou).

With a really catchy chorus and some decent lyrics, there is plenty of promise until I found myself a little let down 90 seconds in with a slight change of pace and direction, but thankfully it doesn't take too long to return to what makes the track identifiable. A lively number from the guys from St Albans, and yet another song that has all the makings of a cracker when performed live.

When their touring in December ends, work will get underway for a third long play, so expect more noise and chaos from these guys in the near future.

Backed by a live version of 'Motherstep/Mothership' recorded in February, 'Destabilise' is available on download now, with a limited edition 7" being released on November 29th. Maybe not their best release to date, but certainly worth a look.
