Agoraphobia - Blabbermouth EP Review
EP Review
Blabbermouth's debut album 'My Dancing Heart' was littered with references, albeit witty ones, to death. Now he's back with a new EP and you get a sense he's in a slightly better mood.
The title track 'Agoraphobia' even hints at optimism and is a more obvious single than his previous material with an anthemic chorus that I could see myself singing along to (who am I kidding I've already done it in the car - twice). Mind you it does bemoan the world's population for screwing up the planet so maybe he's still not that happier a chappy.
I couldn't help but think of Peter Sarstedt's hit 'Where Do You Go To My Lovely?' whilst listening to 'Paris' and this was a definite distraction until half way through when the banjo and male choir kicked in and it built to a rousing finale. But anybody that rhymes baguette with forget gets my vote for sheer gall (or Gaul perhaps).
'My Time Machine' is a whimsical affair which plays at one level and doesn't add much.
There's a new album due out in September and on this evidence I'll be giving it plenty of ear time.
Agoraphobia EP is out Aug 2 on Hobgoblin Records.
