Before The Walls Came Down - Computer Club [UK] Single Review

Single Review
The Computer Club's 'Before The Walls Came Down' sounds like a standard new-rave indie band song. Offering very little in the way of originality, the bands only distinctive quality comes from The Computer Club's vocalist who borders on an Editors-esque voice, although much less overbearing and inhuman. The song is what you've grown to expect from the new indie genre, fast paced, repetitive lyrics and near identical chords and drumming from start to finish. The introduction to the song is awful, sounding like the infamous clock ticking from Countdown. That aside, the song itself isn't a bad piece of work. Sure, the music doesn't offer anything refreshing bar reminding us of our favourite game shows, but The Computer Club does have a little bit of charm which other bands can't deliver. I can't see this as a major hit in the future; it's very listenable but nothing more than that.
