Why'd We Fight? - The Loose Salute Single Review

Single Review
Their MySpace page exudes energy and passion for what they do but this rather ineffectual and plodding song does little to stir the soul and, for that reason, I'm out (to quote the Dragons in the Den). They are described by their label as Country-Soul. I failed to hear much of either genre during this forgettable ballad - OK it's dewy-eyed and deals with break ups but it reminded me too much of the sort of world-weary dirges that Joan Osborne and Imbruglia churn out and nobody needs that all again. Oh, it features a lap-steel guitar so that must be the Country element then.
Their other songs are OK but this is an odd choice to push a band towards radio and exposure because it just doesn't have any oomph about it. There are better tunes on their album by far and if you like Neil Halstead and David Vandervalde then it's worth a visit.
