Single Review

With over ten million albums sold worldwide - three of which consecutive number ones - Disturbed are put alongside the likes of U2, Metallica, Van Halen, Staind and Pearl Jam as one of the only few rock bands to have achieved this massive feat. The third album in this list was released on June 2nd 2008, titled Indestructible. It achieved 253,000 sales in the first week reaching number one in the US Billboard 200 and also worldwide. The singles to be released from this album have the odds in their favour to each be great successes; and their first release, Inside the Fire, did not disappoint reaching number one in the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart remaining there for 14 weeks.

So, the second release is never as good as the first I hear you say? Well I disagree strongly! Indestructible (single) begins very powerfully with a strong air raid siren filling the opening seconds of the track leading into sounds of an aircraft dogfight until 36 seconds, when the heavy guitar riffs really kick in throwing you back into your seat, giving you the urge to thrash your hair about like an 80's rocker. Disturbed have definitely hit the nail on the head with this song, the vocals reminiscent of Def Leppard in their prime and the guitar riffs heavier than Richard Branson's wallet showcase why Disturbed have become such a respected and globally successful band.

Usually, this is where I would criticise the music for bad production, sloppy vocals or selling out their musical roots; however Disturbed really have excelled giving us a fresh sounding yet true-to-their-roots track of heavy metal with no negative traits at all which both hardcore Disturbed fans and new listeners alike can enjoy!
