Single Review

Apparently, according to a recent article, Rod Thomas is more than happy busking the London underground, making a shilling here and there, entertaining the passing commuters. But these days are surely numbered, with the release of his latest offering, "Same Old Lines". A far wider audience surely beckons......

The talented young Welsh singer, once described as "joyous lo-fi folk pop", brings a great freshness and a personal, quirky take on the troubles of life. "Same Old Lines" is a mix of pleasant finger plucking ukele playing, group hand clapping and xylophone appreciation. It may or may not seem a random combination, but coupled with Thomas' distinctive vocals it really works. The chorus is simple and immensely catchy and you can't help but find yourself singing along. Its a sad song that makes you smile!!!!

On first listening, Noah and The Whale certainly spring to mind, and it has a definite 'poppy' feeling to it. In fact the retro 70's style finger bob, playschool-esque video that accompanies the song was produced by the same guys whose recent CV of work includes among others, the Mystery Jets and ...Noah and The Whale.

With a growing band of admires within the industry and some rave reviews of his performances at a number of the summer festivals. Rod Thomas may have to now move from the underground to a higher level.....
