Single Review

Psychedelia by numbers? Yes... Heads down thrashing of guitars? Maybe.... Influenced by 13th Floor Elevators, Jesus & Mary Chain and the Byrds ... Yup. But you know what? I like this from start to finish and that means both songs. "Come Together" is the most obvious of the two tracks on this clear-vinyl offering and benefits from the above, possible influences but it's all good in a shimmery kind of way and very well recorded with an almost live feel. This makes me want to see them live. "31st Floor" is more minor-key and reminds me of Tiger and Spiritualized - another cracking tune. It's been done before but The Tamborines are very good at it. Their previous single, "Sally O'Gannon" is JAMC, Ultra Vivid Scene and Spaceman 3 in bed together - a pretty good threesome if you ask me. With live dates in London coming up they will surely be picked up for some prime support slots. I like.
