Gossip - You Me At Six Single Review

Single Review
Gossip is the first official release from Brit rockers You Me At Six. The band had already tasted commercial success with previous hits Save If For The Bedroom and If I Were In Your Shoes both receiving significant airtime.
You Me At Six's 'Gossip' is a typically bouncy pop-punk song. The song fails to differ from the band's back catalogue, with the lyrics and sound sounding remarkably similar to their previous work. With the song centred once again around teenage lifestyles, the band sound good instrumentally, yet lacking in their lyrics. The song opens with a short drum introduction, spliced with foot-tappingly addictive guitar. Yet You Me At Six fall flat because the song sounds oh so similar to anything else they've ever done. Even though the band are currently nominated for a Kerrang award [Best Newcomer] they've failed to offer anything so far that merits it. Gossip is a typically average song which your local teenage band could've conjured up.
The band might currently be riding a euphoric wave of support, but it's going to come crashing down with repetitive sounds and unimaginative lyrics. They might have had a taste of commercial success, but they're certainly not going to experience any critical acclaim.
