Wasp's Nest,Night of the Pencils - Tellison,Tubelord Single Review

Tellison/ Tubelord

Single Review

Here we have a split single by the bands Tellison and Tubelord. First up is Wasp's Nest by the London quartet, Tellison. This is a pretty chunk of indie pop in the vein of The Maccabees, complete with lovely backing vocals to make it extra summery and bitter sweet lyrics that prevent it from being overly sugary. This all adds up to a highly enjoyable track, which is perfect for lazy summer afternoons. The second song is Night of the Pencils by Kingston-trio, Tubelord, which is a very different animal. If Wasp's Nest is a summer breeze, this is a storm of a track, sounding like a bar brawl between iForward Russia!, Biffy Clyro and the Subways. If you are not sure, that equals a very exciting song, which twists and turns like a roller coaster and showcases the talents of a promising new band. In fact, both tracks provide a glimpse of two great (albeit very different) bands, making delving into their back catalogues and seeing them live, when they hit the road together in August and September, a very attractive prospect.
