Single Review

Whatever happened to the marvellous B-52s? Their Island period spawned several quirky yet danceable songs ("Planet Claire", "Dirty Back Road" and the massive "Rock Lobster") and an image that did a lot for hair products and bigger bee-hives than Winehouse. They then suffered the sad loss of Ricky Wilson and switched to Warner Brothers before recording the risible "Love Shack". So, 20 years later what have they done? Well the album, "Funplex" has quietly sailed along critical waters without sinking but won't attract a welter of passengers with this song in support. It's OK and that is it really - an inoffensive pop song with the trademark vocals of Kate and Cindy and lyrics loosely based on the Fellini film of the same name.
