Live Review

Hey hey. You know when you stumble across a band by accident and they turn out to be a band you felt that you really should have heard - step forward Band Of Horses! Playing 2 nights at SBE to a rapturous welcome from eager fans, I felt out of place when the cheers and whooping started from all corners of the arena - within 2 songs I was a convert. If you love My Morning Jacket, Red House Painters, Mew and Flaming Lips then you ought to give their recent album a punt. It's called "Cease To Begin" and most of it was aired tonight with pounding abandon and the odd technical fluff and it still worked a treat. Sub-Pop have signed themselves a veritable supply of anthems in this Seattle-based group who deserve some recognition for being affable, dedicated and interactive with their audience. Highlights included "The Funeral", "Is There A Ghost" and the utterly bewilderingly shivery "No One's Gonna Love You". Oh yes they are chaps....oh yes they are..
