With their first single, ‘This Is An Emergency’ from their second album, Leeds’ catchy stompers The Pigeon Detectives, failed to capture the imagination of listeners, as it barely limped away from their first album sound and had none of its oomph.
But now, with ‘Everybody Wants Me’, rhythm increases and Mat Bowman’s pitch takes on a slower, meaningful gait and the lyrics send out a fidelity lauding message. Still catchy, but more serious and it is a strategy that shows another dimension to this likable Leeds troupe.
