How Come Loretta - The Ryes Single Review

Single Review
New London-based band The Ryes have come up with a rather jangly song in ‘How Come Loretta’. In fact their My Space site also features a few other catchy tracks including a song called ‘Jennifer’ but let’s not presume for one minute this lot are love-sick wimps. Although they claim to be influenced by The Beatles (jangly guitar - tick), The Beach Boys (harmonies - tick) and The Police (nope - can't see it myself) their gait veers towards Jellyfish, XTC and The Posies, the more modern end of psychedelia minus the paisley shirts. "Loretta" takes a few spins to sink in but ultimately nags away until the hook sinks in. It's not new, it's not big but it is a reasonably clever song that, when played live (they have several dates coming up in July), should put a grin on the most hardened of audiences.
Check them out.
