Single Review

The latest and most likely last release from Fightstar’s second album ‘One Day Son This Will Be Yours’, ‘I Am The Message’ isn’t really one of the stand out tracks on the album.

The song is one of the lighter sounding tracks from their album, bearing a basic yet effective lyrics of;

If I am the message, then you are the machine.

The song features very light guitar work, with the usual frantic drumming softened to match the tone of the track. Charlie Simpson has a chance to utilize his abilities in singing to a slower tempo, which works rather well. The chorus is a tad disappointing with it not really capturing Fightstar’s usual mix of raw drive and blaring guitar.

The song doesn’t really possess the emotion of ‘Floods’ or the ferociousness of ‘99’, but it’s a decent addition by Fightstar. It shows the broadness of their music, with them varying from metal to soft rock frequently. The only disappointment is this track sounds a little like ‘We Apologize for Nothing’ with a similar tempo and structure, therefore rendering this release a little needless. Still, worth a listen for anyone into their rock music.
