Linkin Park

Single Review

The latest release from Linkin Park's third studio album 'Minutes To Midnight', 'Leave Out All The Rest' follows suit with the rest of the album, dropping the nu-metal rapping from Mike Shinoda and favouring a slow tempo throughout the song.

Both the song and the video are centred around lead vocalist Chester Bennington, with the song being focused around people making bad choices and redemption. The song features soft melodic keyboard in the background, with a much louder based chorus which is common from their latest album. As the song is quite ballad-like, Chester unfortunately keeps his voice quiet which fails to exploit his talented voice.

The song's release is going to disappoint their fan base, with many believing the band are failing to utilise Chester Bennington's powerful voice and Mike Shinoda's unique metal-rapping qualities. Although the song is by no means bad, Linkin Park are beginning to become a tad predictable with similar releases such as 'Shadow Of The Day'. With the band's sales dropping to 25% of their original 'Hybrid Theory' album, one can only pray Linkin Park will abandon their tediously slow brand of rock and return to their trusted nu-metal.
