Single Review

Is the nation sick of the RnB diva? Well apparently not as 'Take a Bow' has hit number one following the re-release of her number one album ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’. The track is similar to previous hit ‘Unfaithful’, with roles reversed as the track is centred on the girl being cheated on rather than being unfaithful to her man. Written by fellow artist Ne-Yo , the keyboard infused track combines melodic soft tones with hard-hitting lyrics.

Trying to apologise, you’re so ugly when you cry.

Despite the song being for nothing more than money-orientated reasons, the track’s low and downbeat tone is a refreshing change to Rihanna’s more upbeat songs from her last release. The combination of Ne-Yo and Rihanna has proved successful with the singer being involved in ‘Hate That I Love You so’ & ‘Unfaithful’ previously. The pair have successfully cultivated an addictive yet heartfelt RnB track, something growing less and less common within chart music. Rihanna’s voice remains one of the huge selling points of the track, as her unique vocal tones give the track an edge which no other could provide. Fantastic track. For those who ridicule the RnB genre as unimaginative and lacking any depth within the lyrics, this will both shock and pleasure your eardrums.
