Dear God - Avenged Sevenfold Single Review

Avenged Sevenfold
Single Review
Attempting to replicate the success of ‘Seize the Day’, Avenged Sevenfold’s 'Dear god' is a slow, soft-sounding track based around protecting the one you love. The song deviates from the metalcore stylings the based have become renowned for, using a mixture of acoustic guitar and elements from country music. The song isn’t at the same level as previous acoustic ‘Seize the Day’, but Avenged Sevenfold show their broad musical range in this track. They manage to include guitar solos without dampening the tone of the song, and lead singer M Shadows utilises his voice successfully.
The track is a great example of Avenged Sevenfold’s talents. They’ve already achieved moderate mainstream success through the single ‘Almost Easy’, and 'Dear God' could do the same upon its release. The song is touching and could very well appeal to the masses with its soft nature. A great track from the metal band, hopefully there’s more to come from them.
