Disturbed

Single Review

The first single from the bands upcoming release 'Indestructible', Inside the Fire tells the story of the devil possessing a man to join his girlfriend in heaven after she's committed suicide. Featuring the powerful voice of front man David Draiman, the song sounds like the usual combination of loud drums and guitar but the addition of a keyboard introduction comes as a nice surprise. The song is by no means groundbreaking by the American band, but they separate themselves from the generic rock scene through David's opera-esque vocals and a wide array of instrumentals. The heartfelt lyrics of the song shine through after a few hearings, yet the feeling still lingers that you've heard it all before. All of Disturbed's singles have sounded relatively the same, songs such as 'Prayer' from 2002 perhaps indicate the band aren't really progressing and unwilling to experiment outside their comfort zone. It's a very mediocre song from the band; it'll probably score big with their loyal fan base without drawing upon any new fans. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who has heard Disturbed before.
