This Is An Emergency - The Pigeon Detectives Single Review

Single Review
Given its prominence in a live setting and the fact that it was aired alongside the stammering indie drawls contained on debut album, ‘Wait For Me’. Means that ‘This Is An Emergency’ is not so much a prelude to forthcoming second album ‘Emergency’ that it is the lead single from, but more a continuation of the first album stance.
Singer Mat Bowman continues to use his slightly intoxicating, bedraggled push to ride over steady percussion and spiralling guitars. Last time the slightly over dramatic cries were lost in the simplistic catchiness, but now it makes them just sound like whinging teenagers. Unless the second album suddenly spirals off in different directions and shows up and eclectic side, it will just come too soon after the debut to have any impact at all.
