Can’t Speak French - Girls Aloud Single Review

Girls Aloud
Single Review
'Can’t Speak French' is the latest single from popstar winners Girls Aloud. The single hit number nine in the U.K singles chart, meaning the band have achieved a recording breaking eighteen consecutive top ten singles.
The band’s latest single ‘Can’t Speak French’ has received mixed reviews from sections of the media, questioning the band’s attempt as being “a joke”. The song is typically pop based from Girls Aloud; featuring repetitive hollow lyrics mixed with funk based bass riffs and catchy guitar work. The song grows upon you immediately, with the chorus “I can’t Speak French, so I let the funky music do the talking talking now” becomes fixated in your head within the first few listens. The song also features a short instrumental interlude which works quite well. This song is just generally typical of Girls Aloud’s previous efforts, it’s a pop/dance based track with the addition of nice bass guitar and added claps to make it come across like a dance floor track.
This song clearly isn’t a ‘Sound of the Underground’ or ‘Biology’, yet it’s another song to add to their impressive portfolio and show perhaps their “manufactured” band deserves more credit then they’re ever likely to receive.
