The Steers

Single Review

The Steers latest release 'Julia' fits in instantly amongst the current indie crowd. The Cardiff band's new single ‘Julia’ sounds similar to the work of ‘The Pigeon Detectives’, with them boasting a fruitful combination of dance soaked drum beats and Britpop guitar riffs. The song itself is based around love and its complicated nature, the band has hit a winner by not being over-extravagant and creating an anthem-laced song that is easy to listen to.

The other track featured on the single is ‘The Same Game’, which features a similar set-up to the ‘Julia’ single, being based around love and using a very indie based vocals. ‘The Same Game’ uses bassist Ben’s work far more frequently, than their previous single. The track makes a nice b-side although perhaps seems more like a weaker version of ‘Julia’

Being that the band have toured with such prestigious acts such as ‘The Automatic’ and ‘Stereophonics’, as well as heavy endorsement from Zane Lowe and Colin Murray it’d come as a huge surprise if the band failed to enter the current indie scene within the near future.
