Linkin Park
Back Catalogue Album Review
This is the first of hopefully many columns which looks at a band's entire back catalogue, selecting the stand-out tracks. The band in this column is Linkin Park, whom possess three studio albums and three others including 'Live In Texas' a collaboration with Jay-Z and 'Re-Animation' which is a re-mix of hit debut album 'Hybrid Theory'.
Linkin Park's breakthrough album 'Hybrid Theory' features some of the bands best work. 'In The End' is still known as their best track, while 'Pushing Me Away' proves to be held in high regard. From relatively disappointing album 'Re-Animation' a better version of 'Points of Authority' appears.
The band's second studio album 'Meteora' helps establish the band's nu-metal reputation. 'Breaking The Habit' has a very different style to usual Linkin Park songs, and 'Numb' is an emotionally charged slower track showing lead singer Chester Bennington's ability as a song writer. 'Live in Texas' sees a third version of 'Pushing Me Away', this time combining the work done on 'Re-Animation' and 'Hybrid Theory', making it a fresh version.
Linkin park accepted an invitation to work with Jay-Z on MTV's collaborations. They created Linkin Park's biggest hit to date 'Numb/Encore' which hit number one in the U.K. 'Minutes to Midnight' is the bands latest creation, ditching the Nu-Metal tag and becoming a much slower band. 'Bleed It Out' is close to their original roots, and 'No More Sorrow' is the loudest track on the album.
