Given Up - Linkin Park Single Review

Linkin Park
Single Review
Linkin Park have undergone a re-birth with their latest album. The band have ditched the nu-metal tag which proved such a success with the last two studio albums ‘Meteora’ and debut record ‘Hybrid Theory’, instead becoming a much more vocal based band, centred around lead singer Chester Bennington. The singles ‘What I've Done’, ‘Bleed It Out’ and ‘Shadow Of The Day’ off the ‘Minutes To Midnight’ album have quickly lost there novelty, something such classics as ‘In The End’ and ‘Numb’ have never suffered.
However, the fourth single ‘Given Up’ is much improved from slow and tedious ‘Shadow Of The Day’. The song has done remarkably poor in the charts due to the lack of incentive for fans to buy it (it contained no new songs or b-sides). It is one of the heavier tracks off Linkin Park's new album and wouldn't be out of place within the ‘Meteora’ record. It is certainly worth a listen, although it cannot re-kindle the same kind of music Linkin Park started out with.
