Always Be - Jimmy Eat World Single Review

Jimmy Eat World
Single Review
Jimmy Eat World have always been a band who have failed to fulfil their potential. After reaching number 5 in the billboard chart with their hit single 'The Middle' the band seemed to disappear from the music scene, with previous album 'Futures' proving to be a failure despite touring with the likes of Green Day and Taking Back Sunday. However, their latest album 'Chase This Light' seems more promising. Produced by the legendary Butch Vig (Nirvana producer), the band get back to their roots with the second single released 'Always Be'. The single has received significant airtime on MTV2, frequently appearing in both The Red Button Chart and Rock Top 10.
Although this single is hardly a classic, the pop-punk lyrics and melodic guitar work well together to create a very laid back rock song border lining pop music. The song and video are based around two teenagers who like each other and are chasing each other around a museum during a school trip. It does show Jimmy have gone back to playing music for the younger generation, trying to repeat their short stint at the top of music. 'Always Be' probably won't be the track to resurrect that, however it's still worth a listen if you fancy something laidback.
