Anya Marina
Live Review
After traversing down the small back street to Orange Yard home of the Borderline for an evening dubbed "Club Fandango" I was pleased to see that the evening must be very popular as everyone must have arrived early because was no queue.
Anya Marina : Hailing from San Diego this bluesy voiced, indie influence singer songwriter I'm sure was wowing the crowd going by the low hum coming from downstairs as I made it to the box office at the venue. Playing tracks from her EP Exercises in Racketeering and enjoying some good critical acclaim I failed to hear any of the performance instead I spent my time upstairs talking to the box office.
Rating for Anya Marina 3 Rating for Orange Yard on a Cold evening 0.
Dawn Landes : The Low Fi New Yorker was the next act on. This singer songwriter performs with a variety of strange instruments and I was particularly looking forward on seeing her take on the song Young Folks popularized by the artists Peter, Bjorn and John. I however was in a restaurant sampling a very nice dry sauvignon blanc which was served at the correct temperature just lightly chilled by a friendly waitress called Dawn whose bright and infectious smile and helpful manner made for an enjoyable experience overall.
Rating for Dawn Landes 2 Rating for Glass of Wine 4.
Chris TT : Back from a few dates in the US including the famous Viper Room in LA, this folky indie influence singer songwriter was the highlight for the crowd this evening. Playing tracks from his new album "the day the earth stood still" and enjoying some very good write ups I spend my time caught up enjoying the delights of a chicken katsu curry and grilled gyosa served again by my lovely waitress . This meal was washed down with some Miso soup and did exactly what it needed to do by being both filing and comforting.
Rating for Chris TT 3 Rating for Chicken Katsu Curry 5.
I am sorry readers that I did not manage to give you a more comprehensive music review but I feel this is the best one you are likely to receive from a reviewer that did not attend the event as although his name was on the guest list there were no free tickets available for him. Overall the bands seem quite good their PR company is atrocious
