Afterlife - Avenged Sevenfold Single Review

Avenged Sevenfold
Single Review
With an opening riff that gives more than a head nod to any generic Trivium track; it’s hard to imagine most people hailing this track as incendiary. Despite its angst-fuelled nature and melodic chorus, this bog-standard melee must be what scraping the bottom of a barrel sounds like. Somehow lacking the spark of their better material, ‘Afterlife’ ends up sounding like a gutless blend of tiresome melodic rock and dare I say it; nu-metal.
It’s hardly cutting edge stuff, but having said that it’s easy on the ear and makes no serious demands of the listener. A7X seem to be flagging with this release and as a result, this has ‘For Diehards Only’ stamped all over it.
