Sheffield's Roy Orbison clone Richard Hawley, gets serious on this Rockabilly romp. Using the simplest of formats, upright bass, drums, as seen on Jonathan Ross's show last Friday night, this is his most uplifting single to date. The big bonus here is the 60s styled tremolo on guitar.
It's the second single from 'Silver Status' Lady's Bridge.
Serious came about like this, according to Hawley.
I was doing a soundtrack for a film called Flick that I'm in with Faye Dunaway.
I played a rockabilly DJ.
But as usual I got distracted and instead of doing what I was supposed to be doing I wrote this instead.
It's a simple song really - when you're in love it's great and when you're not it's shit.
It's a simple as that and life can get serious very quickly.
For the B-side he trawls Elvis's Poor Boy, turning it into a really, serious, howdown belter, that would grace any barn dance, or come to that, any party going.
