It's been the usual two year stint since The Stereophonics last album and a period that has seen retrospective solo album releases from both Kelly Jones and drummer Javier Weyler. Marking the release now of the bands sixth album the latest single release entitled It Means Nothing, taken from the album Pull The Pin, reveals a stripped back sound with simple instrumentation that spawns an endearing symphonic soundscape.
In a decade and a half however nothing has changed, reassuringly to the Stereophonics faithful. It Means Nothing along with countless other classics like Dakota, Handbags and Gladrags and The Bartender And The Thief is just as richly textured, lyrically appealing and possessing that rhythmic toe-tapping quality in which the opulently plush and raw nature of Kelly Jones' vocal rumbles along.
The Stereophonics are one of those bands who's quality never falter, no tricky sound effects, sampled vocals or self centred arrogance just a singular desire to produce soul embracing, feel good music.
Not many bands have gone from teenage cover band to rock'n'roll royalty in the space of fifteen years with quite so much success.
