Traditional - Peter Grant Album Review

Peter Grant
Album Review
Put simply Peter Grant is a vocalist beyond his years. With a rich, charismatic swoon about his vocals and demeanour this modern day marvel, giving modern day crooners like Michael Buble and Jamie Callum a run for their money, brings the easy listening sounds of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin flooding back. Traditional Grant's latest album following on from the success of debut album New Vintage brings out the best in this maturing twenty something with a good variety of subject matter and emotively rich grooves. The albums title track is a good opener serving classic jazz as a first course with a bubbling piano chord orientated base line, flurries of brass in abundance but with a more modern day feel courtesy of synthesized electronically enhanced drumming. It's not only the stunning vocals that impress however, developing at a rapid rate, tracks Until You Come Back and You're Worth It show how diverse Grant's musical style is, going from soulful ballad to menacing swagger with ease, a feat that personal hero Harry Connick Jr would be proud of.
