The Bang Gang Deejays

Album Review

Ultimately a DJ collective, the group The Bang Gang are an obscure, highly talented gaggle of Aussie turn table impresarios consisting of members Dangerous Dan, Ajax, DJ Damage, Gus Da Hoodrat, Double Nolan and Jaime Doom.

Listing their influences as The Taliban, Disco Dancing and Pornotube it's clear how the groups questionable band name came in to creation. The Bang Gang's latest album Light Sound Dance has been four long years in the making and marks the groups label debut with Modular Records, an independent label boasting releases with other artists including Wolfmother, Ben Lee and Klaxons. Covering two discs entitled Black and White and featuring some seventy plus tracks the albums content is mixed and varied to say the least and brings a refreshing change in composition to the normal hum drum that seems to plague the CD shelving units of every music retailer. Featuring Simian Mobile Disco, Soulwax, Cut Copy, Justice, Futureheads, Klaxons, Midnight Juggernauts, The Rapture, Editors, Bonde Do Role, Muscles, Wolfmother plus remixes by Thomas Bangalter (Daft Punk), Switch, Claude Von Stroke, Van She Tech, The Avalanches, Hot Chip and SebastiAn, there is quite simply something to suit the moods and persuasions of everyone.

Described by many as 'the ultimate mix' and 'the mix that people have been waiting for', this double CD should form part of every dedicated club goers CD collection. From beginning to end the airwaves are filled with a riot of pumping bass lines, heavy beats and a sweet electronic vibrancy that pulses catchy danceable melodies out with mind tingling effects.

Although not household names on this side of the rock, The Bang Gang are a rapidly developing talented crew who in time will surely match the appeal and success of the various collaborative efforts that punt their meticulous craft over the European club scene.
