Kill The Director - The Wombats Single Review

The Wombats
Single Review
The Wombats have a rapidly growing fan base but more jumping relentless punk-pop tracks like ‘Kill The Director’ and it won’t be long before they’re headlining bigger venues.
The Liverpool trio have all the attributes to win mass appeal but, as a result, they don’t sound too distinctive and at the moment they seem to be treading the lead of the tried and tested.
This isn’t to say the Wombats aren’t at all original or refreshing because they are. It’s just you don’t listen to ‘Kill The Director’ and think, “wow I’ve never heard anything like that before”.
Having said that, we better not to take their upbeat, excitable music too seriously because it’ll fill you with so much positive energy and leave you feeling alive and desperate to be at the front of one of their many feverish gigs.
In essence it’s catchy, energetic and will get your pulse racing – unless of course you’re into much deeper thinking music, in which case this will probably annoy you no end.
Meanwhile you might actually prefer their b-side track ‘Metro Song’, which I feel has a bit more depth to it but it also features the hummable and bouncy characteristics of their other songs.
