Break You - Marion Raven EP Review

Marion Raven

EP Review

This mini-album is really a teaser for the album ‘Set Me Free’, released May 7th (already a big hit in Japan), and this Norwegian singer is described as having a ‘dark edge Avirl Lavigne can only dream of’.

I’m not sure I can agree with that; Miss Marion sounds exactly like Lavigne before she went all horrible (‘Girlfriend’, anyone?)

But this Mini-album is brilliant. A definite reason to buy the album, ‘Breaking You’ is a catchy, angry song about a break up. Obviously this is a clichéd idea, but Marion carries it off, using a pop rock theme to show off her talents, making (after a few listens) it easy to sing along to.

Next song is ‘Falling away’, another danceable song (pop rock again- I notice a theme). A great, catchy song (another theme) that somehow lifts anyone’s spirits, despite the fact I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be a depressing topic.

The final track is ‘Here I am’, a angsty song, following the theme of ‘great and catchy’, and doing it well.

This mini album is a great reason for anyone who was into Avril Lavigne, or is into the pop-rock scene.
