Live Review

A sparkling set of fairy lights and array of musical instruments set the scene for a great night ahead… With special guest Jack Savoretti providing the support he set the mood with powerful ballads such as Lucy and Soldier’s Eyes. His charismatic yet modest persona left us to a short interval letting the anticipation grow.

Then came the main feature. Corinne Bailey Rae briskly entered the stage a quick “Hello” and straight into I’d Like To, her newest and freshest single to date. This was followed up by When You Call My Name showing off Corinne’s guitar skills and she can play!!

An energetic eight-piece backing band let Corinne’s songs take a more lively existence especially with a funked up rendition of Put Your Records On.

With the crowd spell bound Corinne left the stage only to come back with 3 encores! She was clearly enjoying herself as were the near capacity crowd.

As the night drew to a close you could see couples becoming more loved up and the singles in the audience becoming love struck to such songs as Choux Pastry Heart and the beautiful Enchantment.

A great night of live music, romantically inspired songs though limited (1 album to her name), Corinne Bailey Rae is a true British female talent to be proud of.
