Looking back, Donnie Darko was more about the quirky, moody music than any groundbreaking film-making merit. Mr Michael Andrews was in no small part responsible for the musical mood-setting of that exploration. With this double A side he takes a pondering stroll through the UK's pop music heritage.
Just A Thought has a piano toe and vocal labouring that brings together Lennon and Bacharach. The piano element serves as a bluesy undercurrent to the more laid back gait of Orange Meets Lemon, whereby life philosophy is espoused in a manner that would suit the swanky setting of a posh hotel, while people dine on fig leaves and wine. A sophisticated touch hides the troubled nature, just like so many people in life, eh?You may be interested in
